The Ester Post Office has been serving the arts and mines of Ester for more than 100 years; the village might qualify as an art commune if it weren't for all the miners (some of whom are artists, and vice versa).

Deirdre Helfferich specializes in book text design and layout. She is a painter and collagist, often collaborating with her husband, Hans Mölders, a carpenter, to create furniture and cabinetry that are unique and functional artworks. They are vendors at the Ester market.
